Mormonism?

I just want to open up the forum to discuss a specific aspect of Mormonism...

Can anyone tell me according to Mormonism, where do our spirits that dwell within our physical bodies, come from??

I don't want a religious bashing in any direction....I am just genuinely curious what practicing Mormons believe and why they are either "right" or "wrong".  I want the discussion to be respectful and honest.
